Low Speed Autocross School
General Information
This is a primer autocross class for those who are just starting out or for those who would like to brush up on their skills before running in a timed event. All drivers must wear an approved helmet. The helmet must be at least DOT, however SA2010 or newer is preferred. If you do not have a helmet, you can borrow one the day of the event. We will use the classroom and shop facilities at Lincoln Tech and drive on a course that will be set up in the Lincoln Tech parking lot. The class will consist of a combination of classroom time, time in the shop to review proper car preparation and safety and lots of time on the course honing your driving skills with an experienced driver. The following are some of the items that you will learn:
- What to bring to an autocross event
- Car preparation
- Technical and safety inspection
- Walking the course
- Reading the course map & learning the course
- Taking notes
- Tips for accelerating, turning, and braking
- Lots of practice runs in your car with an experienced driver
See the Autocross Primer for more information about autocross and how to prepare. Please review this and perhaps print yourself a copy before the school.
CCA autocross events are open to Corvette and non-Corvette participants of all experience levels and ages 18 and over. Only cars are allowed; no trucks, SUVs, karts, motorcycles, etc. Spectators are welcome, but must remain off the course at all times and behind the chain link fence. No one under the age of 18 is allowed on the course at any time.

Pricing & Registration
The autocross primer school is $20. For participating in the school, you will receive a coupon code for $5 off a future autocross registration of your choice. Online pre-registration closes at 6:00 PM the day before the event. If you will be sharing a car with another driver, you must register and pay for each driver and you will have to enter different car numbers in the registration forms. This event shares a registration form with the other autocross events, so just check the last three boxes even though they do not apply to this event.

Volunteers Needed
To make our autocross events successful and to run smoothly, about 20 workers and participants from our club are needed for each event. If you only wish to observe or volunteer, you do not need to be registered for the event. No experience is necessary, we will teach you everything you need to know.
Here are the areas where we need help:
- Saturday - We need volunteers for the school and 5+ experienced drivers to do ride-alongs. We need 2-4 people to stay to help setup, mark, and test the course for Sunday. Plan to arrive by 7:30 AM.
- Sunday - We need volunteers for setup, tech inspection, registration, worker chief, grid, start box, spectator control, and cleanup at the event conclusion. Registration opens at 8:30 AM so all worker/participants involved with setup, registration, and tech inspection should arrive by 7:30 AM.
You can sign up to volunteer for autocross events on this shared Google spreadsheet (no sign-in required) or e-mail competition@vette-club.org and specify the day and task you volunteer for. Thursday prior to the event, I will send out an email listing what position(s) everyone has volunteered to do.
