You Find Good People Everywhere
Two weeks ago on Friday, July 21st, I was leaving my hotel in Lenox, MA for the IMSA - Northeast Grand Prix - race at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut. Starting SCOOTS that morning was something completely different, most of the gauges didn't work, windows would not move, A/C didn't work along with many other malfunctions. The local Chevy dealer, Bedard Brothers, was about 15 miles away. Thanking my IPhone for directions I pull into the service lane and the Service Advisor tells me his Corvette mechanic is on vacation, but they would be happy to see what they could do. I had little choice and said "Please Do." About 45 minutes later I heard the car start and Jeremey, the Service Advisor, found me to say that "They think it's fixed but the mechanic is taking it for test drive. It needed a Cold Restart on the ECM." The mechanic pulls into the service lane to tell me "It seems to be fixed, but I'm not a Corvette mechanic so I can't say for certain." I look at Jeremey and asked how much do I owe them and that in my mind he has a second Corvette mechanic, Thank You very much! Jeremey said ( this is the amazing part) "You don't owe us anything because I am not sure we really fixed the problem." I couldn't believe it!! I asked him again and got the same answer. And that is why I say "You find good people everywhere." Oh, and SCOOTS is fine!
Our next Monthly Meeting will be September 12th at the Greene Turtle in Burtonsville, MD from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
Tuesday, August 22nd, will be Shop Night at Sport Chevrolet. Important Note: If you are not in the Service Area by 7:30 PM each Shop Night you may have to turn around and go home if everyone else has already finished working on their cars. I will wait until 7:30 BUT I am not going to ask Randy and the others to wait until 9:00 on the chance that someone might show up. Generally you can start working on your car between 5:30 and 6:00 pm. Randy lives in West Virginia and we don't want to prevent him from heading home just on the chance that someone might show up late to work on their car.
I hope to see many of you at Corvettes at Carlisle August 24th through the 27th. Safe motoring and save the wave.
