Kim and Donna L. are CCA members from Queensland, Australia. They are working on the restoration of a 1958 Corvette and have been keeping us up to date on the progress of the effort. Here is the latest news on how things are going based on a message from them on February 21st, 2017.
Our apologies for lack of contact. Running a small business here takes every hour of the day plus some with our personal interests going to the back of the queue every time. I have attached three photos where our '58 was at 2 weeks ago. It was in the process of being reconstructed so as to ensure all the main new and old parts fitted prior to it going into the paint shop.
At the very moment it is nearly back to a bare shell. We are about 2 weeks away from saying goodbye and good luck as it will be transported off for a holiday at the panel and paint shop. We believe it will be approximately 3 months before we have it back in the workshop. During its absence we will continue to be placing and receiving shopping orders with suppliers from around your great country. All the instrument gauges have been boxed up and sent over your way for a full restoration and component replacement where needed.
Fingers are crossed there will be no parts that will cause delay in this time of absence so as on its return from the beauty parlour it will be a full on reconstruction program to bring it back to its proud former glory if not better.
We will keep you updated on the progress as Donna and Kim continue their adventure. The first article on the project, and the introduction of Donna and Kim, is in the November 2016 newsletter starting on page 5.
